Former hospital in Vigalzano was auctioned last year. Usage concepts developed in the past failed. Building complex under monument protection since 1998.

The building complex of the former Villa Guilia is enthroned on a hill in the small town of Pergine Valsugana (heels in the Sugan Valley, province of Trento). Architect Eduino Maoro di Pergine built the representative building in 1912 for Vittorio Napoleone, a late descendant of the Duchy of Trento. The villa is an impressive prime example of eclecticism in northern Italy: Gothic, Renaissance and Classicist neo-styles merge into a largely free combination and reinterpretation of historicism.

After the Second World War, the villa was converted into a convalescent home, rebuilt and expanded several times. Although the original furnishings and architecture have largely been lost and the entire interior has been expanded as is typical for hospitals, the ensemble was listed in 1998.

The area has not been used since the hospital was closed in 2013. The remote location has led to rapid decay, theft and vandalism. Various people and institutions have developed usage concepts in the recent past. Among other things, the modernized resumption of hospital operations was planned with considerable investments. However, a breakthrough regarding the rescue and revival of this architectural jewel has not yet been achieved.

The property was finally auctioned in 2019. So far it has not been possible to find out in the Italian regional press how things will go with the former Villa Rosa. There is certainly enough potential for the touristically developed Trentino with its picturesque mountain and lake landscape and its popular ski areas.
