Real estate portals are certainly not among the rarest addresses on the Internet and as founders in this business field we are happy to forego an innovation award in the 21st century. The industry, which is dominated by large providers and global players, is generally considered to be oversaturated, anyway this market structure has not prevented us from launching this platform.

Many portals function either as a general real estate marketplace or as a portal for luxury properties and mostly occupy the market within a specific country or language area.

Besides broker sites - did you know an international source that exclusively markets historic properties? We didn't know of any, and since we were of the opinion that beautiful properties in the environment of European cultural heritage needed their own stage, we simply built it up. With strong focus, expertise and passion REALPORTICO became an initial success, which basically confirms the potential in this niche.

Character Properties as a brand message

Refurbished historic residential properties are often advertised with luxury or exclusive labels. Due to the dominance and prevalence of these real estate buzzwords, there was a need for an additional brand message that would address historic properties, regardless of value and condition, whether it is the monumental property in the double-digit million range or the empty and renovation-needy bargain manor house.

In English we found the term "character property", which is occasionally used in the United Kingdom for historic country estates and stately homes for sale. This term seemed appealing to us - not very familiar, but at the same time "easily communicable" to sharpen the brand message across national borders.

The Vision

For prospective buyers, the search for a historic property is not a fleeting affair; it requires perseverance and research, because properties of personal relevance are scattered on many different local and international real estate sites. Often one encounters the same offers on similar portals. Such a scattering of offers is not automatically conducive to sales and can have just the opposite effect.

For sellers, the buyer of a cultural monument ideally comes from the local area. However, the facts and inquiries also show a high level of interest in historic properties abroad and for many an object difficult to sell on the domestic market, foreign buyers can provide new impulses. Therefore, we additionally act as a cross-national bridge between sellers and interested parties.

Visionary we see REALPORTICO as a platform for pan-European character real estate, where relevant target groups can search search and find historic properties in one place. Although this is not yet tangible, our motto of "think big, grow small" has proved to be a good guide so far.
