The 12th-Century Medieval Templar Commandery

Ideally positioned between Sète (13 miles) and Montpellier (7.5 miles), this historic estate, built in the 12th century and carefully renovated over time, offers approximately 9,580 sq. ft. of usable space in a commanding location. The property features: an honor courtyard, a consecrated chapel, a reception hall, vaulted cellars, two kitchens, five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a study, and a tower. Additionally, there is a guesthouse with two bedrooms, a well, and a former wine cellar ready for conversion. The fully walled park is home to centuries-old trees.

History

The first traces of settlement date back to prehistoric times, but the village as it stands today took shape during the Middle Ages. The commandery was built at the end of the 12th century by the Templars. After the dissolution of the Templar Order in 1307, the estate passed to the Knights of Malta, who renovated it in the 16th century. The Hérault region has long been marked by the strong presence of the Templars.
