History and Context
The villa is located in Cipressa on the western Ligurian Riviera, set on gentle hills sloping towards the Mediterranean Sea. Cipressa is a historic village with pastel-coloured buildings, rooted in centuries of maritime and agricultural tradition. According to local legend, the name Cipressa derives from three shepherds from Cyprus who founded the village’s three historic districts.
The village features narrow cobbled streets, fragrant bougainvillea and citrus trees, and a coastal breeze. In this quiet, historic setting, the villa offers unobstructed views of the sea and horizon.
Since the 19th century, the Riviera dei Fiori has attracted aristocrats and artists from across Europe, drawn by the climate and landscape. The Cipressa villa combines modern comfort with traditional character, providing an elegant, fully equipped retreat.
Architecture and Design
Originally a former monastery, the villa was fully renovated in 2010 with a focus on tradition and contemporary design. Clean modern lines integrate with classical elements such as columns and porticos. Large windows and French doors frame sea views, while loggias and terraces provide sheltered outdoor spaces.
High-quality materials include marble, hardwood floors, and hand-forged ironwork. Interiors are finished in light, Mediterranean-inspired tones. Details from fixtures to custom furniture emphasise understated luxury. The design balances classical elegance with modern functionality.
Interior Layout
The villa covers approximately 800 m² and offers generous spaces for both communal living and privacy. The living area includes a double lounge with separate conversation and TV zones, opening directly onto the outdoor areas. Adjacent are a formal dining room, billiards room, and music room.
There are three kitchens: a main kitchen designed for fine dining, a service kitchen, and an outdoor kitchen for meals with sea views.
The private sleeping quarters comprise eight suites with sea views, each with built-in storage, en-suite marble bathrooms, and modern amenities. The master bathroom includes a Jacuzzi bath with panoramic window. A fully equipped gym completes the interior.
Outdoor Areas and Gardens
The estate spans around 3 hectares, offering full privacy. Lawns, palms, and centuries-old olive trees create a Mediterranean atmosphere.
A panoramic pool is the central feature, surrounded by a sun deck, lounge area, and covered relaxation space. Additional amenities include a tennis court and covered portico with seating and dining areas. Terraced gardens lead gently down towards the sea, and integrated lighting highlights the grounds and pool after dark.
Location and Views
Situated on an elevated site, the villa offers uninterrupted views along the coast to the French Riviera. The location ensures tranquillity and privacy, while Cipressa’s centre, beaches, and harbour are just minutes away. Imperia, Sanremo, and the French Côte d’Azur are easily accessible, with inland areas offering olive groves, hilltop villages, and cultural routes.
