Siedlec Palace, locally known as Pałac w Siedlcu or Pałac Krzyckich, was constructed between 1770 and 1775 for Castellan Antoni Krzycki. This magnificent residence is steeped in the heritage of prominent Polish noble families, including Grabowski, Potulicki, Tyszkiewicz, and Mielżyński.
Designed by Johann Christian Kamsetzer, a Dresden-born royal architect and a leading figure of Polish Classicism, the palace is a striking rendered structure built on a rectangular plan. It features two lateral risalits, a low ground floor, and a grand upper floor, crowned by lofty hipped and gabled roofs. The courtyard façade is adorned with a colonnaded portal supporting a triangular tympanum, embellished with a bas-relief of Helios’ chariot. The palace stands as one of the most significant aristocratic residences of its era, embodying the transitional phase between Baroque and Classicism.
Key Interior Spaces
The most distinguished areas are located on the upper floor, accessible via a grand staircase:
- Ballroom: Boasting a ceiling height of approximately 7 metres, adorned with intricate stucco work.
- Blue Salon: A refined reception room with classical elegance.
- Small Chapel: Lovingly restored by the owners.
- Additional Salons and Chambers: Arranged in an enfilade layout, featuring classicist wall and ceiling décor.
Of particular note are the recently uncovered wall paintings with classical motifs in the south wing. Additional staircases in the lateral risalits provide access to the residential areas on the upper floor.
Parkland
The estate is complemented by a 6.36-hectare English landscape park, home to approximately 800 trees and a diverse array of plant species. The park features three ponds, two of which are connected by a charming bridge.
Condition and Potential Uses
The interiors have been extensively restored, with modernised electrical, water, and heating systems. Windows and doors on the ground floor have been replaced, with partial replacements on the upper floor. The south and west façades have also been renovated.
Additional buildings could be constructed for leisure or sports facilities, conference spaces, or guest accommodations. The palace has historically been heated with oil and coal furnaces. Access is provided via an asphalted road, with electricity and water services in place. The entire estate is securely fenced.
The palace is ideally suited for cultural, medical, or commercial purposes, or as a foundation property.
