Timeless addresses for modern connoisseurs.
Oggebbio is not an independent town but a collective term for about 15 small villages and hamlets with a total of approximately 880 inhabitants, located along the northern shore of the lake and extending far into the hilly hinterland.
In terms of tourism and the real estate market, Oggebbio is often overlooked.
The area is situated about halfway along the Strada statale 34 del Lago Maggiore
between Verbania and Cannobio. Along the state road, you can find some public beach areas.
Here, you can also spot clear traces of the Belle Époque. Numerous - mostly privately owned - villas stretch along the lakeshore
and into the hinterland. Some of them are well hidden and hardly noticeable from the road. Only incidentally, wrought iron gates,
sometimes visible on the opposite side of the street, hint at larger estates with parks and private beaches.
Among the historical houses, Art Nouveau style dominates to a varying extent,
along with historical and eclectic facades.
Thanks to the mostly extensive lake view within this section, Oggebbio proves to be attractive for prospective buyers.
Regarding the lakeside villas, it should be noted that today's traffic situation is not comparable to the time when the villas were built.
Especially during the summer months, constant traffic prevails here, but many property owners appreciate today as well
the advantages of a direct lakeside location combined with a lively environment and international audience,
while densely overgrown gardens with high stone walls provide the desired privacy.
Although there is certainly no shortage of remarkable religious buildings at Lake Maggiore, some of the parish churches and oratories here are worth mentioning. In the hamlet of Gonte, you can find the church of San Pietro with the tallest bell tower on the Italian west bank of the lake, standing proudly at 42 meters high. The church of Santa Agata in Novaglio also presents a picturesque scene, perched on a rocky outcrop above the lake.
In our portfolio, we have more than 5,000 properties for sale around Lake Maggiore. Our team speaks English and Italian.
