Pazo de Brandaliz, Santa Marta de Ortigueira, Galicia
Pazo de Brandaliz is a 16th-century manor house (“pazo”) situated on the outskirts of Santa Marta de Ortigueira, approximately 1.2 km from Morouzos Beach. It stands on the Ría de Ortigueira and comprises a built area of about 900 m² within a walled estate of 8,000 m². The manor has been carefully maintained over the centuries and retains its original character and Galician identity.
The Main Residence
The principal house provides six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a guest WC. Further accommodation includes a living room with panoramic windows overlooking the ría, a dining room with exposed timber beams, and a traditional Galician kitchen with a lareira (open hearth) and wood-fired oven. Original period details remain preserved throughout.
Outbuildings
Within the grounds stand the Chapel of San Miguel, still in use and notable for its Baroque bell gable and finely carved wooden ceiling, a traditional panera granary, several pavilions, and various viewpoints facing the ría.
Grounds
The walled garden, laid out in the 18th century, extends across 8,000 m² and reflects French design influence. It contains centuries-old roses and camellias, a monumental olive tree, and a botanically remarkable hermaphroditic orange tree. Pavilions and viewpoints are carefully integrated into the landscaped setting.
Setting
Santa Marta de Ortigueira lies on Galicia’s Atlantic coast, about 120 km north-east of A Coruña. Morouzos Beach can be reached on foot, while local infrastructure is close by.
Use
The property is suitable as a private residence or for tourism purposes. The auxiliary buildings provide scope for expansion or guest accommodation.
