This château, medieval in origin and remodelled in the Louis XVI classical tradition during the 18th century, stands above the Gardon river where Languedoc meets Provence. The symmetrical façade – articulated with pilasters, a central pediment, balustraded terrace and arched ground-floor loggia – is characteristic of the period and in sound condition throughout. A thorough restoration, carried out with close attention to materials and fabric, has preserved the architectural integrity of the building while introducing contemporary services.
The reception rooms extend to over 3,770 sq ft and open onto a terrace overlooking the park and inner courtyard. Original features are intact: pointed vaulting with pronounced arrises and carved stone door lintels.
The 16 suites, including a principal suite of 1,205 sq ft facing the park and the hills of the Gardon, are each appointed with full bathrooms and sitting areas. Several include a kitchen, allowing independent use as self-contained apartments.
On the garden level, a professional kitchen of 700 sq ft gives onto the park and connects by a service stair to the dining room above. A wine cellar and ample storage adjoin. A billiard room on the same level opens onto further spaces suited to a spa, screening room or gymnasium. On the opposite side of the courtyard, a second kitchen of 600 sq ft provides an independent service wing.
The park of 4.2 acres combines indigenous trees and shrubs, areas of garrigue, lawns and fountains. The pool, set between the château and the Gardon, is served by a pool house with sitting room and summer bathroom. Beyond, the park gives way to views over the gorges of the Gardon.
Staff quarters are available. Further suites could be created within the existing fabric. A lift serves all levels. Heating is provided by a central air-conditioning system with individual controls in the reception rooms; all suites have reversible units. Windows and French doors are double-glazed in timber or aluminium frames. Parking with four electric vehicle charging points.
