Gorgeous manor houses in former East Prussia

The estate in Galiny (Gut Gallingen in former East Prussia) stands picturesquely on a hill at the end of the village and is surrounded by the small river Pissa. The village, with a population of just under 1,000, is located about 10 km south of Bartoszyce and about an hour's drive north of Olsztyn.

The present appearance of the manor, built for Botho zu Eulenburg, has its origin in the middle of the 18th century. In the following two centuries, there were structural changes again and again until the 1920s: Most recently, the Silesian architect Friedrich Franz Graf von Hochberg gave parts of the complex a neo-baroque character that is still visible today.

Galiny suffered only minor damage during World War II, but all of its interior furnishings were lost in the postwar period and most of them were burned.

Pałac Galiny as the manor is known in Poland, has been extensively and lovingly restored over the past 20 years, with work not yet fully completed in 2020.

Today, a hotel is operated on the grounds with the extensive farm buildings, as well as horse breeding and a riding school. Therefore, Galiny has also made a good name for itself, especially in the field of riding vacations: website of the estate.
