This castle represents a seamless integration of history nature and culture. Built upon the remains of an ancient fortress and altered multiple times over the centuries it now stands as a refined example of classical residential architecture from the 17th and 18th centuries a rare balance between aristocratic heritage and Enlightenment ideals.
The architecture is characterised by balanced proportions and restraint. Unlike the ornate style of Versailles this manor exudes understated elegance. The strictly symmetrical floor plan calm façade with a pediment and the main block flanked by two low wings combine French Classicism with northern European features such as polychrome brickwork and rounded towers the work of a visionary architect.
Inside the rooms are arranged according to a clear hierarchy serving both representational and private functions. A grand staircase rises from the imposing entrance to the upper floors. Reception rooms including formal salons and a dining hall flow seamlessly into one another. The upper level offers a blend of privacy and reception space with antechambers boudoirs and spacious bedrooms. Ancillary rooms service areas and corridors integrate harmoniously into the overall design of a considered and elegant living environment.
The estate covers approximately one hectare including a generous forecourt. Outbuildings such as stables barns and staff quarters reflect the architectural language of the main house complementing the ensemble with discreet charm. The entire property forms a self-sufficient estate embodying the spirit of a distinguished era visible also in subtle details dating from the Second Empire.
In front of the castle lies a landscape park of about fifteen hectares. Open meadows rare trees a pond and a chestnut avenue create a setting inviting contemplation and experience. Here nature is not controlled but engaged in dialogue the sound of horses’ hooves the whisper of the wind and the interplay of light through the canopy combine in a quiet conversation with the historic building.
