Grand historic house located in the historic preservation zone on Piłsudskiego Street in the Jedliny district of Koszalin, West Pomerania. The property was built in 1904 in the Neoclassical style for the Koszalin municipal official Otto August Carl Müller and is listed in the heritage register under number A-787.

History

Initially a private residence, later a bank building. After 1945, the property was used by municipal and regional museum institutions. It was subsequently transferred to the Koszalin University of Technology. Today, it is privately owned. A monograph on its history is available free of charge at www.zabytkowawillakoszalin.pl.

Architecture

The floor plan is based on a central hall and a symmetrical interior layout. Preserved historic elements include:

  • Columned portico with Corinthian capitals
  • Tympanum featuring a bas-relief of three bacchantes
  • Original staircase as well as historic doors and windows
  • Facade and interior trim details
  • Copper sheet roof

The first floor features the central hall and representative rooms. The second floor includes a separate entrance. The second floor and the attic offer expansion potential for private residential quarters or commercial space. The house is fully excavated with a basement.

Building condition

The essential elements of the historic building fabric are preserved and documented by technical expert reports. The building is secured and continuously maintained. Structural measures must be coordinated with the responsible historic preservation officer in Koszalin. Heritage and design documents are archived with the historic preservation authority.

Property

Garden with mature historic trees and an auxiliary building (currently used for storage) with a building footprint of approximately 1,851 square feet (172 m²). Access is provided via two paved driveways from Piłsudskiego Street.

Potential uses

According to the local zoning plan of the city of Koszalin (symbol 09U), the area is designated as a commercial service zone with permitted residential use. Potential uses include a private residence (supported by the historic preservation officer), a corporate headquarters, a family office, law offices or other service activities.

Location

The mansion is located on Piłsudskiego Street in Koszalin. The immediate neighborhood includes the regional court, the regional hospital, schools and the city park. The Baltic Sea (Mielno, Kołobrzeg) is approximately 9 to 25 miles (15 to 40 km) away. The S6 express highway and the A6 highway provide connections to Berlin, Szczecin and the Tri-City (Gdańsk-Sopot-Gdynia). The Szczecin-Goleniów Airport is located approximately 1.5 hours away by car.
