Baroque Palace in Gänsefurth

The beverage brand Gänsefurth may have been seen by some people in the supermarket. Besides the mineral water, the small village of Hecklingen (Saxony-Anhalt) is also known for an interesting castle ensemble of the von Trotha family, consisting of the remains of a medieval castle, an old Renaissance castle with tower and a new Baroque/Rococo castle.

When the castle was still in municipal hands in 2008, visits were briefly offered. Worth mentioning is the 2-storey hall with decorative rococo decoration, which was very well preserved despite being vacant for a long time.

The photo shows the baroque part of the ensemble in 2010, on the upper floor of which the rococo hall is located. In the same year, descendants of the von Trotha family had bought it back from the municipality.

The area directly adjacent to the Bode is no longer accessible to visitors today, and the castle complex appears to have been largely renovated.
