We are delighted to present a truly exceptional property situated directly adjacent to the scenic Bystrzyca Valley Landscape Park. This palace and manor complex is located in the village of Samotwór, just a 30-minute drive from Wrocław city centre and approximately 10 minutes from the airport.

The Palace – Pałac w Samotworze
Constructed between 1776 and 1781 by the renowned architect Carl Gotthard Langhans – designer of, among other landmarks, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin – the palace sits atop a riverbank overlooking the Bystrzyca on the western outskirts of Wrocław. Langhans conceived a new type of country residence here, blending English Palladian and French Neoclassical influences with the traditional style of Silesian manor houses.

The palace was designed as a freestanding, versatile classical villa. Its architectural composition draws on Palladian and English precedents, with rectangular panels adorned with laurel garlands and panoplies decorating the façade between the first- and second-floor windows.

The ground floor is particularly impressive, centred around a beautifully preserved oval hall adorned with rich Neoclassical stuccowork, believed to be the work of the distinguished Wrocław artist Hans Peter Echtler. Medallions and overdoor panels depict personifications of Strength, Fidelity, Courage, Health, Peace, as well as symbolic scenes. A mirrored vaulted ceiling on an elliptical plan, supported by decorative Ionic columns, crowns the room. The hall also retains a Neoclassical fireplace from 1919 and an 18th-century wooden mosaic floor in need of restoration.

Other rooms on the ground floor feature faceted vaulted ceilings, decorative stucco rosettes, and wooden floors. The entire level follows an enfilade layout, covering 326 m².

Access to the upper floor is via a historic wooden fan staircase, considered highly valuable by heritage authorities. Here, there are eight bedrooms (six standard rooms and two suites), each with its own bathroom.

The basement houses a large space with two vaulted rooms featuring exposed brickwork, floor heating (electric) and a separate external entrance – ideal for a spa area with saunas, jacuzzi, or treatment rooms. This floor also contains a large kitchen and full catering facilities.

Outbuildings and Hotel
In addition to the palace, the estate includes a renovated 616 m² hotel with 14 en-suite rooms (16–24 m²) and a 70 m² conference room, which can accommodate up to 60 guests in theatre style or around 40 in a seminar layout.

The property also comprises a functioning horse stable, a barn, and a two-storey former stable building (1,143 m²), which may be converted into a hospitality venue with a large banquet hall, commercial kitchen, and separate restaurant, for which the owner obtained planning permission in 2008.

All outbuildings date from the 19th century and are fully connected to the electricity supply. The grounds feature a private stream – perfect for summer relaxation – and an English-style park covering approximately 3 hectares, with mature trees including nearly 200-year-old plane trees, maples, and oaks.

Location
The village of Samotwór, in the municipality of Kąty Wrocławskie, borders the Bystrzyca Valley Landscape Park and the Natura 2000 protected area. The estate enjoys excellent transport connections, lying directly adjacent to the Wrocław metropolitan area, with a 30–40 minute drive to the city centre.

Additional Information
The complex comprises nine adjoining plots forming a historic palace and park estate of seven hectares, all recorded in a single land register. The palace underwent extensive renovation between 2007 and 2010 under heritage supervision. Works included structural repairs to ceilings and roof, replacement of roofing, restoration of 1920s windows and selective replacement of doors, full refurbishment of electrical and heating systems, installation of modern fire safety, surveillance, and telecommunications systems, and adaptation of interiors for hotel and catering use.

Between 2010 and 2019, the palace operated successfully as a hotel, dining, and conference venue. In 2015, it was awarded “Hotel of the Year” in the “Palaces and Castles” category in a prestigious survey conducted by HRS.pl and Forbes. The property is sold unfurnished.
