Veauce Castle, a monument rich in history, is located on a rocky spur with splendid views. It has been the residence of many historical figures, including Louis the Pious, son of Charlemagne, in the 9th century. The site dates back to the Gallo-Roman era, with springs still visible in the castle's cellar, dating from that period.

The fortress underwent multiple phases of construction and reconstruction, including the 11th, 13th, and 15th centuries. By the 16th century, Veauce had become a barony under the Bourbon family. In the 19th century, Charles de Cadier de Veauce, a politician and friend of the Duke of Morny, restored the castle in neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance styles, adding stables and a riding school.

Despite its medieval appearance, the castle was modernized in the 19th century while retaining its historical elements, including the keep, towers, and kitchen from the medieval period.

The castle’s four wings include:

  • The medieval wing, featuring 15th-century elements like fireplaces and mullioned windows, largely remodeled in the 19th century.
  • The neo-Renaissance wing, constructed in the 19th century, similar in layout to the medieval wing.
  • Two partially collapsed wings, once housing stables, outbuildings, and garages.

The fortress is surrounded by a curtain wall with fortification towers from the 13th to 15th centuries. The 19th century added battlements and a clock tower.

Outside the fortress:

  • A large terrace and a 19th-century entrance with a gate lodge.
  • An old icehouse tower and another entrance called the "Little Lodge."
  • A beautiful 8.3-hectare park with remarkable trees, traversed by the river "la Veauce."

The estate also includes abandoned 19th-century buildings such as a mill and a metal greenhouse.

Currently, the property is under an official work order from the State, allowing the new owner time to carry out necessary repairs.
