Schloss Lindach originates from a castle complex that must have existed as early as the reign of Duke Frederick II of Swabia; the first recorded mention of the village of Lindach dates back to 1331. The castle was part of the mountain castle chain in the Fils, Rems and Lein valleys. The square tower features well-preserved foundations that reveal several construction phases. The conversion into a castle took place during the Laymingen period between 1580 and 1690. The northern building was remodelled in 1929, and the entire castle was renovated in 1959. Continuous modernisation work has been carried out between 2015 and the present day on the windows, bathrooms, heating, kitchen and interior fittings.
The ensemble comprises five buildings:
The castle building has a total floor area of approximately 1,026 m². The basement houses a vaulted cellar. The ground floor (approx. 170 m²) comprises a kitchen, utility and administrative rooms, as well as telephone and heating plant rooms. The first floor (approx. 170 m²) features seven rooms with bathroom facilities. The second floor (approx. 367 m²) extends across a spacious living, dining and kitchen area in the south-eastern wing, alongside two dining halls and four further rooms with en-suite bathrooms in the northern wing. The third floor (approx. 319 m²) accommodates 13 rooms with shower and toilet. Two staircases and a lift service the floors.
The surgery building was built in 1969 to the south-west of the castle using solid construction methods and offers a total floor area of around 395 m² across three storeys. The basement (approx. 131 m²) contains treatment rooms and a boiler room. The ground floor (approx. 133 m²) includes a reception hall, treatment rooms and utility spaces. The top floor (approx. 131 m²) contains six apartments with shower/WC, as well as three additional rooms.
The spa house was built in 1965 and extended upwards in 1985, offering a total floor area of approximately 508 m². The ground floor (approx. 268 m²) comprises several rooms, predominantly with shower/WC. The top floor (approx. 240 m²) contains seven rooms and three apartments, each with shower/WC.
Two greenhouses with a combined floor area of approximately 2,421 m² (approx. 0.6 acres) are equipped with a water supply; one of them is prepared for electrical and heating systems. An outbuilding (approx. 202 m²) with water and electrical installations serves as a vehicle and tool depot.
